More about Celeste
Hi, I’m Celeste, a Financial Aid Officer at Durham College. I’m also a single mother to the coolest kid on the block! When I am not at DC helping students navigate the complexities of OSAP, scholarships, bursaries and budget planning – I am watching my son play competitive sports! Yes, I’m that crazy hockey Mom with the cowbell in the stands! Although hockey and lacrosse takes up most of my time when I am not at work – I wouldn’t have it any other way! Having such a busy life has really helped me keep in perspective some of the challenges that students face juggling multiple tasks like work, school, and of course the social aspects of attending college. I love to keep things light and FUN! Whether I am at work, or at home – my favourite thing to do is LAUGH! Nothing beats a good chuckle.
I am known by my colleagues, friends and family for my natural ability to problem solve. Professionally, I am passionate about helping people (students) achieve success. In my role, this often means overcoming financial challenge and/or crisis by creating a strong financial plan and maintaining open lines of communication throughout the year. I love facilitating presentations interacting with students and parents!
What excites me most about working at Durham College are the students. It is so enlightening to see a student develop and sharpen financial life skills as they navigate through the often intimidating journey of post-secondary education I especially love hearing success stories from alumni about how their financial aid experience influenced their decisions in life after College!
I am really looking forward to participating as a member of the DC Experience team! Who else is pumped for September?
