5 Awesome Events Happening Around Campus This November

Theres a lot of really cool things happening around campus this month, so I thought I would take some time to do a round-up post with a little bit of information on them so that you don’t miss out! Durham College always has so many great things for students and interested students to do each month. It’s important to keep a healthy balance in life and I know most of us can get pretty overwhelmed this time of year – so go ahead and take a break and have a little fun around campus!

1. Project Prom

Project Prom is a really cool program that is being put on by students in DC’s Special Events Planning program. On November 25th (Whitby Campus) and November 26th (Oshawa Campus) you can donate your old dresses, shoes and accessories to help less fortunate girls attend the prom of their dreams! With each dress you donate you are entered to win some cool prizes too! For more information, click here.

2. DC Holiday Food Drive

The DC Holiday Food Drive is organized by DC, UOIT and The SA. The program helps students who are struggling to make ends meet during the holiday season. The program kicked off with their first event earlier this week, the Toonie Toll. This program has events going on all month long as well as in December. Starting November 30th you can buy poinsettias to support the drive. For more details about the rest of the events and how to get involved, visit this page.

3. Sport Business Conference 2015

The 6th annual Sports Business Conference is taking place on November 24th. The event is hosted by DC Sport Business Management students and will offer guest speakers, networking opportunities and more. For event details visit the DC Calendar of events or the event’s webpage!

4. FastStart DC Presents: Thinking of a Master Plan

If your interested in starting your own business, then this is the event for you! Hosted by FastStart DC on November 25th, the workshop will help students figure out how to launch their business ideas, the importance of a business plan and how to develop one.

5. FastStart DC Presents: Building Your Prototype

Another great event put on by FastStart! If you’re interested in creating gadgets, technology and problem solving, this is a great event for you. You have to pre-register for this one, but don’t worry it’s free! It’s happening on November 26th

And as a bonus…

6. Information Sessions

Did you know that DC has a variety of information sessions for those who are interested in applying to college? This month, there are two events with multiple times! The Portfolio Information Session and Start Strong.
